Red Chilli in Manchester

My friend Dong Ya lives in Manchester and he took us to this Sichuan Restaurant in Jan 2014, it was the first visit for Jennifer and I, we were both impressed by the quality of food.  Jian has been to Manchester many times and Red Chilli has become her favourite restaurant in Manchester.

Jian and I went back to Manchester in Jun 2014, we went to Red Chilli again but due to there were only two of us we couldn’t order too much food, we repeated a few dishes from last visit, the quality was maintained, the restaurant was busy but service wasn’t bad, I was surprised to see many bad reviews on Tripadvisor on their service.

Beijing roasted duck in Red Chilli is a must eat dish, the taste and texture was just perfect! We couldn’t finish the duck and took it back to our apartment hotel and ate the next morning, it was still good.

Pig ears can be a strange dish for westerners but we Chinese do like it very much.  The jelly slices of pig ears not only looking pretty but also tasted nice.

The spicy poached seabass was cooked with dried chilli oil, I liked the dish but it was too spicy for me.  If you like spicy and are able to eat spicy it is recommended.

There are limited choices of Chinese vegetables in Gibraltar and Andalucia, therefore we were all crazy about Chinese vegetables.  The Chinese green bean (四季豆) is one of my favourite, it is usually stir fried with minced pork.

In the second visit we tried another dish which was stir fried eel with dried chilli.  It was nice and crunchy, a little bit spicy.  We ate the leftover the next day and surprisingly it was still good.
